Event Domes in Action: Astroworld, Burning Man, SXSW, X Games and More

Spec tables tell you what a dome can hold; deployments tell you what it can do. Here's a tour of real builds — festival main stages, desert sound temples, and brand activations — drawn from two decades of putting geodesic structures in the world's most demanding venues.

Astroworld Festival — the immersive experience dome

At Astroworld 2018, our domes played both sides of the festival equation: a geodesic stage dome that framed performances (Sheck Wes, pictured on our gallery) and a full 360° projection experience dome where festival-goers stepped out of the Texas heat and into a wraparound visual world. Festivals are the ultimate stress test — crowds, weather, overnight builds — and the triangle geometry is why domes keep passing it.

X Games branded event dome — exterior with custom printed cover

X Games, Lenovo, Nissan — the branded dome as billboard

A custom-printed cover turns the entire structure into brand real estate visible across a venue. Our X Games dome carried full exterior branding outside and a finished hospitality build inside; Lenovo and Nissan used branded domes as activation spaces that pulled traffic precisely because a dome doesn't look like every other trade-show booth. When Audi needed an immersive launch environment, the answer was a connected dome-and-lounge complex — proof the format scales from single structure to campus.

Burning Man — where domes go to be tested

The Black Rock Desert is the harshest event site on Earth: alkaline dust, 60-mph gusts, zero infrastructure. Our builds there — including the Agave Lounge dome (2023) — have to be engineering first and art second. It's also where our sound reputation was earned; as Jeff Taylor, founder of Root Society and Monster.com, put it after his Burning Man builds with us: the domes "truly stood out — and sounded incredible — at an event where standing out is no easy feat."

SXSW and Melbourne Music Week — coast to coast to hemisphere

At SXSW, a dome became an immersive brand experience in the middle of the world's densest festival footprint — small site, massive presence. And Melbourne Music Week took the format international: a geodesic music stage on the other side of the planet, built by the same team and the same trucks-to-triangles process we run at home. We're Los Angeles based, but the fleet travels — anywhere there's an event worth building for.

The pattern across every build

  • The dome is the destination: at every one of these events, the structure itself drew the crowd before the content did.
  • One geometry, every format: stage, theater, lounge, billboard — same triangles, different skins.
  • Reliability where it's hardest: desert, festival, international freight — the builds that end up in our gallery are the ones other structures can't attempt.

Frequently asked questions

What events use geodesic domes?

Music festivals (stages and immersive experiences), corporate brand activations, product launches, weddings, and 360° projection theaters. Recent deployments include Astroworld Festival, Burning Man, SXSW, X Games and Melbourne Music Week.

Can event domes be custom branded?

Yes — dome covers can be fully custom printed, turning the entire structure into brand real estate, as in our X Games, Lenovo and Nissan activation domes. Partial branding like banners and entrance wraps is also available.

Do you deploy domes outside Los Angeles?

Yes. We are based in Southern California with substantial ready-to-deploy inventory, and we deploy worldwide — including international builds like Melbourne Music Week in Australia and remote-site builds like Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert.
